Creating a topic via docker compose file

Hi, I am running confluent kafka locally and I am using a docker-compose.yml file. I want to create a topic at the startup and for which I am using the following code but I am not seeing my topic. Can anyone help with the same? I am creating topic under broker where you can find the docker command.

It looks like you are trying to create a Kafka topic during the startup of your Kafka broker container using the kafka-topics command in your docker-compose.yml file. However, your command is not working, and you are not seeing your topic. One issue I see with your docker-compose.yml file is that the command section in the broker service is missing the run command. You need to add the run command to execute the kafka-topics command in the container. Also, I recommend adding a sleep command to give the broker some time to start up before executing the kafka-topics command. Here’s an updated version of your docker-compose.yml file with the changes:

That compose file is invalid.

  1. docker isn’t available in the container
  2. command isn’t an environment variable, so it’s in the wrong section
