Having going private using a dedicated clusters and private links I was surprised that we needed to go public when using the Schema Registry. Are there any ways of having this registry private?

I’m not sure I understand the question. You can self host your schema registry. It doesn’t need any exposure to any network outside your Kafka cluster or clients
